The groove in the head has been halved in size, which doubles the angles at which the seat can be tilted. The asymmetrical design of the Campagnolo clamp and the proximity of the locking screw to the seat tube are intended to prevent damage, unlike conventional symmetrical bands with a locking screw some distance from the stem.
Tightening a locking screw positioned at a distance from tube means that a traditional symmetrical band exerts irregular pressure on the circumference of the seat post tube, crushing it and increasing so the risks of structural failure.
The asymmetrical design with the locking screw almost at a tangent to the seat post tube ensures uniform band pressure over the entire circumference of the tube, thus reducing the possibility of damage.
